Our Priority Is  Your Pet's Safety!

DENTAL CARE

Dental care is one of the most important things you can do for your pet as a pet owner. Dental disease can be associated with other serious health problems like heart and kidney disease. Despite what many pet owners may believe, "dog breath" is not just a nuisance but a sign of an unhealthy mouth. Bad breath causes bacteria, and bacteria leads to plaque and tartar build-up on your pet's teeth. Let us examine your pet's teeth and gums to help determine if there are dental issues you should know about.

Some dental problems can be managed through at-home care and by bringing your pet to us for regular dental check-ups and teeth cleanings.

MICROCHIPPING

Does your pet need a reliable form of identification that can't get lost, damaged, or stolen? A microchip is a safe, simple form of identification that can significantly increase your pet's chance to return safely. A microchip is the size and shape of a grain of rice. It is placed under the skin between the shoulder blades. Microchipping only takes a few minutes and is very safe. Each microchip is unique and carries vital information about your name, address, and contact information. There is a registration form for you to complete. This will put your pet and all its data in a database to help return them safely. Veterinary hospitals, animal shelters, and animal control offices nationwide are equipped with special electronic scanners that can detect the microchip and read the identification number. A toll-free phone call to the pet recovery database alerts the microchip company that a lost pet has been identified. The pet owner will be contacted and reunited with their pet.

NUTRITIONAL COUNSELING

From the first day you bring a new pet home, through the final days of its life, nutrition is one of the key components in your pet's overall health and well-being. Did you know your pet's nutritional needs change with age and activity level? Did you know that specifically formulated diets can assist in managing various medical conditions, including kidney disease, diabetes, arthritis, and heart disease? Do you know how many calories our pet should have daily and whether you are over or underfeeding? Are you comfortable reading or interpreting pet food labels?

Our nutritional counseling services can help you accomplish your goals and keep your pet healthy. We offer to counsel in dietary selection and feeding practices for pets during various life stages, such as growth, pregnancy, nursing, and the "golden years." If your pet has a medical condition, we can help you select the most appropriate diet to suit your pet's needs. Let us help you achieve and maintain optimal nutrition for your pet.

PUPPY AND KITTEN CARE

Congratulations on the new addition to your family! One of the first things you should do when you bring your new pet home is to introduce them to us, your veterinary team. This will allow your puppy or kitten to get off on the right foot.

Your puppy or kitten will get a complete physical exam. We will look for any signs of illness and ensure that your pet is in good health. We will answer any questions regarding nutrition, training, vaccinations, parasite protection, overall health, and introducing your new pet to existing pets.

RADIOLOGY

Radiology is a valuable diagnostic tool in veterinary medicine. Radiography (x-ray) can be used to evaluate almost any organ in the body, including the heart, lungs, abdominal organs, and bones. The size of organs is important because some medical conditions, such as kidney, heart, or liver disease, can alter the size of these organs. The shape and position of organs can be changed or distorted by certain medical conditions, including intestinal blockage or cancer. Depending on their size and location, tumors can also sometimes be detected using radiography. Radiography can also be used to diagnose bladder stones, broken bones, chronic arthritis, certain spinal cord diseases, and various other conditions. It is safe, painless, and completely non-invasive, using only very low doses of radiation. Radiography, because of the low dose, is safe for all ages of pets.

SENIOR CARE

The best way to help protect your pet as they age is to understand the aging process in pets. We understand this process and can help you help your pet. As your pet ages, medical conditions and dosing medication change. Routine blood work and other testing are important for senior pets because the test allows us to evaluate how your pet's health responds to current management strategies or changes with age. As in humans, some health issues affecting older pets can begin with subtle changes that may go unnoticed. We want to give you all the information to help you make knowledgeable decisions for your pet.

ULTRASOUND

We are pleased to offer ultrasound services to provide a higher level of quality care to our patients. Ultrasonography is a diagnostic technique that uses ultrasound waves to produce an imaging study. It does not use radiation but instead uses high-frequency sound waves to create a picture of what is inside your pet's body. Ultrasound is entirely non-invasive and a painless way to evaluate many common diseases. The machine is connected to a small probe that is held gently against your pet's skin. The probe sends painless ultrasound waves that bounce off of structures (organs) in your pet's body and return to the ultrasound machine, which uses them to generate viewable images on a screen.

VACCINATIONS

Let us help develop a vaccination schedule and ongoing booster routine that accounts for your pet's lifestyle, overall health, the risk for exposure to infectious disease, and other factors. Our doctor and staff members are well-educated about veterinary vaccines, and our goal is to give you the best advice for keeping your pet healthy. Many vaccines are available for use in dogs and cats, but not every pet needs every available vaccine. Some vaccines are considered core vaccines and should be administered to all pets. In contrast, other vaccines are optional and may be recommended for pets based on various factors, such as their risk for exposure to disease. Vaccines also change throughout a pet's life as travel habits and other variables change. These will all be considered when determining which vaccines your pet should get.

Vaccine programs have been highly successful, and vaccines are considered routine today. We, as your veterinary team, and you, as pet owners, cannot become complacent about keeping pets up to date on their vaccines.

WELLNESS EXAMS

Wellness examinations help us establish a relationship with you and your pet. Through your pet's physical tests, other wellness procedures, and consultations with you, we get to know your pet personally.

Whether your pet is a youngster, a "senior citizen," or any age, a complete examination will help us identify medical problems and other issues that can affect your pet's health and quality of life.
A wellness examination includes an evaluation of your pet's major organ systems. We will ask about your pet's behavior, appetite, exercise habits, and regular activities. We can also ask about routine diagnostic testing that may benefit your pet or recommend any vaccinations due. This is a good time to note any weight loss or subtle changes that may or may not be evident at home. Sometimes, information obtained during a wellness examination can help detect early signs of illness and address health issues before they progress.

A wellness exam is also your chance to have us address any questions or concerns that you may have about your pet. We strive to help you understand your pet's health considerations, and we encourage you to be involved in decisions regarding your pet's healthcare.
